Last Day of The Rising Youth

Today we started abit late which is around 5pm. Can't help it, most of them have classes and we have to wait till they finish their classes to proceed with the last recording. Today we have a singer around! That soothing voice. Oh, it touches the soul of my heart. It's such a wonder. Don't worry. You guys will be able to hear that soothing voice in just a short time. In the mean time. Stay tuned! We'll be working on it as fast as we could.

Day 2 of The Rising Youth

Day 2

It's up to your imagination
My god, today is sooooo hot since the sun shine like a boss. Make me sweat even before reaching the venue. Not just that, my teammates were taking refuge in that air-conditioned area while i am outside finding my own space to write for you guys. Here at Block F, something not that good is going on, i won't let you know that much for now. You'll know later on after everything is done though. So worry not. But hey, I won't be that bad to not let a teaser pic out for you guys who are reading.

You know, we actually took quite some time here. The number of people walking in and out, queuing to get their car sticker or result slip. Absolutely uncountable. Same goes with the amount of cars. It does surprise me to see that many cars you know. Making the university seemly like a hectic place like KL or something like that.

The poser and the cameraman
Thank goodness it is more chilling here at Block L and thank god the weather became much cooler as time passes. Hmm. How should i describe this scene? Maybe i just should leave it here and let you guys have a guess. Heh.

Recording Day of The Rising Youth

Today is the day which the recording takes place. First of all, we had to wake up at 6.15am. God that's early. We got ready and proceed to the bridge leading to West City in Kampar. On arrival, our cameraman sets up his camera and tri-pod to record the sunrise. It was a windy morning with drizzles accompanying the breeze. There is a patch of clouds covering the lower part of the mountain in our view. Absolutely a breathtaking view. For UTAR-ians, you might wanna bring your dates to this place which could bring a romantic feeling. Good idea huh?

Sneak preview of scene one

Around 10am, we moved to Bean Cafe. Bean Cafe's atmosphere is quite relaxing though. A cup of coffee, mocha, latte or chocolate while doing your homework, relaxing or having a casual with your friends. In Bean Cafe, the scene is about a girl. What she is doing in Bean Cafe would be revealed sooner or later. Oh yeah, some of you guys might know her actually. =P

Fitness Embassy, this is the last place we're gonna record in for today. This place should be familiar to those who work out. It is at this site where we used most of our time due to failures. We faced wind problem, we faced equipment problem. Sure is hard to find the right timing for stuff like that. But worry not. Failure doesn't happen without an end. There is no success without failing. In our life. There are always trials and errors. We don't get to become who we are without failing and gaining experience from the failure we've done. With each failure, we gain more experience which in turn turns to success.

Brought to you by, KJ of Cuvae's team.

The Grand Grandioso Night of UTAR

First of all, I would like to apologize for this terribly late update on the blog. Have been caught up with my studies so yeah. Here we go.

Well, what actually is Grandioso? Grandioso just means Grand in Italian. The Grandioso team hope to bring the feel of grandness to UTARians where you can actually feel you're in an actual prom night organized by those bigger organizations. On the other hand, Grandioso is also the first prom night brought to you by the Faculty of Science.

If you didn't know, the Grandioso team is working with the Ipoh Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals or in short, the ISPCA. They are trying their very best to raise as much funds as they could for them. For the little ones there. They need our help. They need your help. For those who went to Grandioso, I thank you for helping the little ones. You have my gratitude. You're awesome.

Oh by the way, this is the first Cuvae Event's sponsor project. Yay =D Before going on to Grandioso, I would like to have a short one about ISPCA. ISPCA as mentioned above is Ipoh Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals. They are located at Lot 38642, 4 1/2 Miles Stone,Jalan Gopeng,31300 Ipoh, Perak. Anyone who's interested may go to the address given to have a look for themselves.

Lets talk about the preparation day. It is on the 8th of March which is the Friday before the actual date of Grandioso. On that day, Grandioso's committee gathered at Heritage Hall at 6pm.Well, as usual people are late, so the ones who are there was requested that the hall is to be cleared. The hall is full of chairs which the PTPTN officers used before this. In less than an hour, the chairs have been cleared and all the remaining committee also have arrived. The chairman,Vui Kit called for a briefing for all who are present to tell them what should be done by that night.
The chairman. Vui Kit.

Briefing from Chairman and Vice-Chairman
In this briefing, the decoration team, logistic setup team is then briefed on what they should do and complete. Besides that, the sound and light team will also be arriving around 8pm to setup their stuff.
The sound and light team
And oh, Cuvae's team have already gathered there by 7pm. Upon reaching the venue, we surveyed the venue where we took some photos and then left the hall when their work is not done yet. I applaud to their willingness to sacrifice their time and putting what they have into the preparation.

On the actual date, the committees gathered at 7am. Wow they are early aren't they? Since they went back that late at night on the day before. Oh wait. It's that day's morning. Oops. Well, the Cuvae's only gathered there at 10am. A bit late aren't we? Heh. Before we arrived, the committee resumed their work which includes the floor setup and also the left out decorations. When we arrived there, wola! The work has reach the point of 80% from completion.

With the arrival of emcees and performers at 11.30am, they proceed to their rehearsal. They have to do it without the sound and light since the ones in charge is not here yet. And before i forget, i remember some of the emcees giving suggestions besides listening to the program flow. Such brilliant guys, hope they would work with us one day. =P It is such a relief that the sound and light team came in at 12.30pm and finished up their work within a hour's time. And here goes the full rehearsal which lasted till 2.30pm. Hurray! We're done with the rehearsal. Lets go for lunch. I'm starving. Oops. I mean we're all starving. But sadly, the committees have to gather back at the hall by 5pm. While we the Cuvae's can linger around for another hour before starting our work. By 6pm, we're ready to rock n' roll. Photographers, take place, arm your weapons and to war we go! Oh what? What war? Ah, i meant that the photographers setup their equipments and get ready to record and snap alright. Ain't no war going on in UTAR. Don't worry about that. Absolutely safe.

Deng deng deng deng, here comessss the Grandioso night.

At sharp 6.30, the registration is open. Participants flow in like water through a stream. The list gets filled up as they one by one, pair by pair or group by group proceeds to the outer layer of the hall. At the same time, nomination of Prom King and Queen has already started as well. Dinner is served! At 7pm, a buffet dinner is served. This buffet dinner is prepared by Jamie Choi Food Catering which the contact if you need can be acquired from anyone of the staffs of Cuvae. At the same time, the VIP and also the performers arrives at the Heritage Hall. By 7.30, those who had their dinner and is ready for a performance is then seated in Heritage Hall.

Electro Shock and their groovy moves
The Tango Chocolate team started their dance performance by the group named Electro Shock. They are one of the group competitors from 无限极 which is a dancing competition organized by Astro.
Right after the dance show, a mini quiz is then held. Winners of this quiz obtained bag of goodies from Tango Chocolate.

It is then passed to Ryan Foo Joe where he performed 我的歌声里 and also Fantastic Baby.

After the short performance, the opening ceremony is here. The opening speech is made by Vui Kit, chairman of Grandioso and also Dean who is representing Faculty of Science

After both of them were invited to the stage and have finished their speech, the VIP is then invited to insert the key into the grandioso box

This activates the moving head which projects an image where the word Grandioso is written on it.
This is it. The Grandioso

Applause was given as the moving head projects the image and hence starts the Grandioso night. It starts with the dog runway. Various models brought out dogs which goes up to 8 dogs were involved in this runway.

Kok Ping and Ai Dee's Wedding =)

It all started with 11 of the 'brothers' gathering at at 7.30am at Kok Ping's house. We didn't take a moment of break but instead we started decorating the 6 cars which is heading to Ai Dee's house. Before it was 8.30am, the 6 cars which are completely decorated started to go to her house.

Bridegroom's decorated car

The journey only took us around 10 minutes since it is only from Tasek to Chemor which is fairly near. Upon reaching Ai Dee's house. A cute young boy opened the door of the bride's car. This is part of the tradition as for the newly weds to have a newborn soon. At the same time, the 'brothers' of the bridegroom also got down of the vehicle and accompanied the bridegroom to go through obstacles to reach the bride. They are then brought upon 'challenges' brought upon by the 'sisters' of the bridegroom.

The first 'challenge' would be push-ups. 2 of the 'brothers' is called to face this challenge. Wai Sing and Eugene bravely volunteered since to them it is not a hard task. But i think they are afraid to face harder challenges which would be brought to them later on. They are only needed to push-up for 20 times. Which of course, they finished the task easily without breaking a sweat.

Coming right next is the balloon blowing obstacle. This time they requested 5 of us to blow the balloons. This is also quite an easy task as they are only needed to blow the balloon till it pops. Not so much for a 'challenge' eh? Haha. Guess the 'sisters' are not really good in planning 'challenges' for the 'brothers'. Since the 'brothers' do not feel that it is much of a challenge. 5 of the 'brothers' just blew and let this challenge end in a short while. But they don't know that the 'sisters' did 'something' to the balloons! It actually contains flour. The flour actually spreaded to their faces when it poped. Hahaha. You would hope to be there to just have a peek of their face that time. After the balloon blowing, they are presented with 3 milk bottles on the table where the contents of the first one is somewhat muddy, also looks like a bottle of Milo though. It tastes so weird, it's like a sour Milo. You can imagine the rest yourself. The second one is kinda clear but with a colour of Ribena's colour. The Ribena is another weird combination which ingredients are unknown to us since it tastes sour. Eww. The last bottle is  of a blackcurrant colour. When you drink it, you will be able to taste a very strong ginger taste. It seems that the 'sisters' blended the ginger and poured it into this. That's the end of the 'challenges' proposed to the 'brothers'.

Sucking up the sour milo from the milk bottle~

With the 'challenges' cleared. The bridegroom's side have to give an angpao to the 'sisters' in order to gain entrance to the house. With all those done, at last the bridegroom will be meeting the bride. Aww. How sweet of them. They hugged for a while and kissed. Then they are then required to 'pour tea'  (better known as 'jum cha' in cantonese) to the elders of the bride's family. The elders are so happy to receive the cup of tea from them. They bless the new couple and also offer a present as good fortune for the new couple. As for the younger ones in the family, they are only required to greet the new bridegrooms. In exchange, they receive an angpao as a sign of good fortune. It is now time to prepare to head back to the bridegroom's house. =) Just before reaching his house, all 6 of the cars spams their car honks. It is to replace those music which is played back then as a sign that they're back home. In according to the tradition, the new couples's car went around the his house for another round before stopping. This time, another kiddo from the bride's family opens the door and also the same he receive an angpao as a sign of good fortune. They then proceed to burn incense for the ancestors to gain their blessing. As the same in the bride's house, They too will pour tea to the elders of the family and also was greeted by the younger ones as well. Then they went up to the new couple's room, a male youngster will then roll on the bed as a sign to have a newborn soon and hit the 'tam tung' which is also known as 'zi shun tong‘. As the name suggests, it is so also as a sign to have a newborn soon. The youngster will then again receive angpaos and chinese mandarin for his effort. Then they will change and go have lunch. And that ends their activity for the morning part.

Then comes the wedding dinner. =D
The guests waits impatiently for the arrival of the newly wed couples. With their entrance, everybody stands up and claps for them as to congratulate them. When all is in place, the food is then served. But in the middle of the dinner, the newly weds is then invited to get on the stage to open and pour the champagne and also to cut their wedding cake.

Kok Ping and Ai Dee's family on stage

Right after that, their family is then invited to the stage to drink 3 glasses with the guests. This is to give thanks to the guests which is present on that day. After that, the dinner is then continued. the couple and their parents from both of their respective family will then go from table to table and to drink with the guests.

Photo shooting session is then concluded before the host family give thanks to the guest for coming to the wedding dinner.
